Josh looked to Harriman. "Post extra security around key access areas. Engineering, bridge, computer core, transporter rooms, hanger bay and main cargo bay. If we encounter the Borg they'll most likely beam on board and try to take the ship a piece at a time. Posting them will at least give us more of a fighting chance."

John nodded then look into the viewscreen holding onto the Bridge rail.

“Somthing tells me it’s not the Borg as he haven’t used the core yet, who would Benifit from stealing the technology” asked John

Josh thought for a moment. "The Romulans, Breen even the Dominion. I know we have a treaty with them but for some of them if they feel like it would give them an advantage over the Federation they would abandon it."

[Main Shuttlebay]

The Chief Engineer was busy working on a long range warp shuttle to prepare for testing of the trans-warp engine.   He had five of his best engineers on the job.

Ok guys, I want to setup a good test.  Program the computer to head out to a specific destination, have the sensors track everything while in Trans-warp.   If no, malfunction return to ship.   If there is a malfunction, transmit log bouy back to ship.  Also setup a self-destruct.

Now he had to report to the captain..   He left the shuttlebay, returning to the bridge.

Before John could respond to the XO's command and remind him about the lack of crew, the captain spoke up and told him. But even if they could not post real security officers John decided to see if it was possible to rig modified phasers to fire at will if Borg came in contact with their location. He was not a engineer by trade but his mother had been and she had taught him the basics so after he ran the numbers he knew he should run it by the captain and see what he thought.

"Captain I have a security idea I would like to run by you." he said

"Since we are short handed on security, we could rig phasers with proximity sensors and set them to a modulating fire sequence. It would help protect areas we can not." he said.

The Chief Engineer arrived on the bridge after his team completed the conversion of the shuttle.

Then he noticed another discussion being held.  So he waited at his terminal on the bridge.   Double checking the simulation runs.

Charlotte had continued to monitor the probe's progress, looking for anything that might give them more answers especially after what had been initially detected. But of course it became slightly frustrating when the probe naturally imploded due to the nebula although at least could tell the Captain something.

So when he then asked for an update, she looked up at her husband and replied to him.

" Before it imploded, I did detect tachyon emissions beyond the normal levels for this class of Nebula but was unable to get any further information".

Josh looked over at Harriman. "Commander run detailed scans in the nebula. Narrow the scans for stronger pinpoint readings. Scan for anything that is out of place." Josh looked over at the captain. "Sir recommend we go to yellow alert."

John sighed and spoke plainly and calmly

“If we enter that Nebula we be blind, also Starfleet Command denied request for reenforments as we’re two weeks at Maximum Warp from closest vessel oh and they said no one can get the Borg tech” Finished John

John nodded to the captain and contacted his few security officer and told then to begin attaching proximity sensors the phaser rifles. He then listen to the captain talk to Charlotte, he was going to go over the section maps of the ship when the XO spoke to him.

John looked at the XO and responded, "Aye sir." he said as he began to scan the area. He focused the scans as directed by the XO and awaited the results.
