Charlotte smiled as her husband spoke to her, to tired to insist that he stay. Besides she understood his need to say goodbye to the Horizon. This ship held a lot of memories for all of them and she would tell Luna all about when she was old enough.

Holding onto her precious baby girl and couldn't help but stare at her, talking softly, until the familiar sound of the transporter claimed them and she found herself on a biobed.

Letting the medics do what they needed to, as she laid against the bed.

John took the laser scalpel from Jack then he cut the cord and held his daughter for the first time he was overwhelmed with emotion on this small life in his hands and then he placed her in Charlotte's arms.

"She's beautiful" Finished John

[Deck 2 - Corridor]

Hearing the scalpel, roused Charlotte from her tiredness, just in time to see John holding their daughter. Smiling happily as he then placed her in her arms and called her beautiful.

" She is, our little Luna Grace" she replied softly as she looked down at their little girl. The pain and everything had been worth it to get to this moment and she was tiny but perfect.

The excruciating pain that she was currently experiencing, along with the effort it was taking to push, was enough to distract Charlotte from what was going on around her. Barely registering the arrival of Harriman, although was glad that her husband answered for her, before she said something that she would probably regret.

She did, however hear pieces of their conversation and the evacuation. Although her priority right now was to deliver her daughter as safely as possible.

Squeezing John's hand even harder as she gave one final big push, sinking back against the bulkhead, with exhaustion, until she heard crying and closed her eyes in relief.

Listening as Jack spoke to his father and waited for her daughter to be handed to her.

John walked over and held her hand for a few moments as she whent though the last of the trauma of the last few moments he hoped that everyone could get off the Ship but at the back of his Mind he knew somthing did add right to how conveniently the Cardassian Vessel was destroyed.

"Everything will be okay now soon we be home free" Finished John

[Deck 2 - Corridor]

John holding her hand was reassuring as she prepared to give birth. The urge to push was getting stronger and she knew that she had to get through it, regardless of being scared. " I'm not worried about that right now, all that matters is that she's safe".

Gripping onto his hand tight, not caring if she hurt him, Charlotte began to push.

Before Charlotte could answer Jack between trying not to panic as the pain continued. Several things happened at once, the first was the arrival of an Avian officer she didn't recognise, the second was ship Comms working again and finally John appeared.

From what she had heard she knew that they had to evacuate, however the baby might not want to wait for that as she spoke to her husband.

" Yeah and not a moment too soon because I don't think I can evacuate just yet and Jack's done brilliantly so far".

Barely getting her words out, before she felt the need to push. " Make that she's coming right now" Charlotte said, her voice filled with panic as she reached out for John's support.

Jack took a deep breath as he looked at her he used the Tricorder and started scanning.

“Okay shouldnt be much longer you doing fine” Finished Jack

The news that it shouldn't be much longer and that she was doing fine, was reassuring but also scary at the same time. More scary because this meant that her daughter would be arriving, before she was supposed too and how they weren't prepared for it.

However knew that there was no stopping this and as long as she was healthy and safe, that's all that mattered.

" Thanks Jack, I just wish that your Dad was here" she said, through gritted teeth as the contractions continued and got stronger.

Jack looked up as the ship rocked again he braced himself and Charlotte

“Dammit” snarled Jack as he head hit the wall he took out the Tricorder

“Right....ummmm.....i think i am reading this right damm why did i not pay attention in Emerency Medical training” Finished Jack

Charlotte didn't know what was worse the pain or the way that the ship rocked once more, causing Jack to hit his head in the process. His curses were understandable and yet she wanted to reassure him when he admitted that he should of paid attention more in emergency training.

" Jack it's okay, you're doing brilliantly and we'll get through this" she said softly, before another contraction hit.

Jack saw in shock as the Water Broke he knew this was bad he hopped that this would'nt happen but it did it was up to him now to do this delivery

"Okay Let's lay down nice and slowly" Finished Jack as slowly let her onto the ground and he left her there for a moment he pulled an Emerencey medical kit from a nearby hatch he took out the tricorder and started scanning

"okay how long is the contractions" Finished Brown

Her waters breaking almost sent Charlotte into panic mode, something that she had been teetering on the edge of, ever since the second painful twinge. However she knew it wouldn't do her or the baby any good, if she completely lost control. Nodding when Jack spoke to her, before he gently lowered her to the ground and left her for a moment.

This wasn't how she had ever imagined giving birth and of course she was worried, that the baby could be in danger with being so early and could only hope that power would be restored soon, so they could get to Sickbay. But for now she needed to keep calm and listen to Jack, even though she had no idea about how long the contractions were.

" I don't know Jack, but they're really painful and I think you're going to have to monitor them with the tricorder".

Jack helped Charlotte out of the Quarters they were making it towards the Turbolift then he saw a blue light i was something he never seen before something so great and powerful it almost burned his Eyes then within moments he felt the Ship fall out of Warp then the Silence the utter silence he could feel his heartbeat

"Damm This is not Good" Finished Jack as he tried his Comm Badge noticing it wasn't working he had fear in his eyes not about the Darkness but he had to deliver this Baby by himself but he quickly hid his fear to reassure Charlotte

"Right Looks Like I got to be Doctor" Jack stated as he looked around

As much as she kept telling herself that this was just a false alarm and that she would probably need some bed rest. Charlotte was slowly beginning to realise that this was a lot more painful than she imagined it would be and yet was determined to get to Sickbay, where they would be able to monitor and ensure that her daughter was safe. However fate had other ideas as everything around them was plunged into darkness, apart from the glow of the emergency lights.

Silently agreeing with her Stepson, as worry and concern engulfed her, especially with comms being down and knew that John was more than likely going to miss the birth of his daughter.

" You might just have to be, although I was really hoping that this was a false alarm but it looks as though your sister wants to arrive 7 weeks early ..... Charlotte didn't quite finish her sentence as her waters then broke.

Jack rushed to Charlottes side light a knight like his coldness has been broken from his shell he had warmth and caring he took hold of Charlotte

"Do'nt Worry I keep you Safe" Finished Jack in a soft caring voice "If need be I can deliver I do have Emergency training ca'nt be all that different from the Holo Simulation it be a piece of cake" Finished Brown

[Captain's Quarters]

For a moment Charlotte couldn't believe that John was abandoning her, as he told Jack to look after her as he needed to get to the Bridge. Anger, pain and then the realisation of why he had too, hit her and accepted his embrace before he left. There was no time to say anything, before Jack spoke to her in such a caring voice.

It was like she was dealing with a different person, yet was glad that he had made the right step in being his true self. Although hoped that he wouldn't have to deliver his sister.

" I'm not worried Jack, I know you will but I hope this is just a false alarm, as it's too early for her to arrive".

Even as she said it, another painful twinge went through her and she tried to breath through it.

One minute she was beside Jack, with Josh also talking to her stepson, before he hugged him, the next all hell seemed to break lose, when the ship suddenly rocked violently. Trying to make sense of what happened as she was knocked to the ground in the chaos and heard Josh and Knowdi speaking to one another over the comm. Then realisation began to sink in, that they must of been attacked without warning and this was bad, very bad.

However her worry and concern only seemed to intensify as the twinge she had felt earlier resurfaced once more and she immediately reached for her abdomen. " I'm sure its nothing to worry about, but I need to get to Sickbay, if possible" she said her tone scared and frightful.

Jack moved closer and held onto Charlotte he felt the warmth of her body then looking at her

“You don’t understand.......Its not that I hate you.....” Jack said with sobs “It’s you are her you look like her to show affection was to betray her memory” Jack said with sadness as he held onto her tightly then as he did he started to feel closer to Charlotte

[Captain's Quarters]

There it was, the truth laid bare as Jack continued to sob and hold onto her. So Charlotte did what any Mother would and didn't let go, wanting him to finally share his grief and get it all out, so he could begin to heal properly. It may of taken this moment to finally learn what had been bothering him so much, but she wasn't going to abandon him.

Gone was the stubborn Mr know it all and in his place was a scared young man, who needed their help to become better.

" To hear that means a lot Jack, but you could never betray her memory, you've got to hold onto what you do remember and I promise you, that I will do everything I can to help and maybe we can start again, where we get to know each other properly, especially before the arrival of your sister".

Charlotte had every intention of ignoring Jack and leaving in order to gather her thoughts and stop this painful twinge in her abdomen. However did consider his question, before John looked at her and uttered her name, forcing her to stop and take another deep breath. Of course she loved her husband but she had always struggled with the shadow of Kristi over them. Yes she had learned the truth recently but there was still going to be the odd struggle until both Father and Son accepted and dealt with their grief.

So still standing, she listened as John and Jack spoke to one another about the fateful day, reaching out to hold her husband's hand to reassure him. Emotions were high and it wasn't difficult to feel something about the whole situation, until Jack became overwhelmed with grief and ended up on the floor sobbing.

Only registering what Josh was saying as she let go of John and went to Jack's side, her motherly instincts taking over as she just about got to the floor, in an effort to console him. " I know this isn't easy Jack, but you needed to know the truth and I know that you don't like me, but I assure I'm not a replacement for your Mother, your Father struggled with our relationship in the beginning because of his grief and it's only taken me till now, to know that she wanted him to find love again and accept that I'm not being compared to her".

[Josh's Quarters]

Charlotte was normally a calm person, who also wasn't afraid to stand up for herself or give her opinion when the situation called for it. However as Jack answered her, she could feel the anger bubbling up inside her and wanted nothing more, than to wipe the smug look off his face. Normally she wouldn't condemn such violence, but with her Stepson's reaction and the insults that he threw at her, she wasn't about to just sit there and take it.

It was Knowdi who jumped to her defence first as he got up and went over to Jack, knowing that you never made a Klingon mad, especially when it came to honour. So for now let him say his piece, glad of the back up and agreed with what was said. She also didn't blame him for leaving, before he did something more serious and yet expected Jack to put on a bravado and ignore the Klingon and his warning.

Still the anger raged inside her as she too focused on her Stepson, getting to her feet, she then approached and slapped him. " How dare you?, you think you know everything but you don't, you're nothing but a spoiled brat who thinks he's right and that everyone is your enemy, so I were you, I would listen to Knowdi and start getting your facts right".

Charlotte then stepped back, only to receive a twinge to her stomach in the process, taking a deep breath, she then looked at her husband. " I think I need to go home, you're welcome to stay here and I'll see you later". She then began to walk towards the door, eager to put some distance between her and Jack.

[Captain's Quarters]

Before Charlotte could comment about the ion storm, the door to Josh's quarters opened and they were invited inside. Barely having chance to sit down, before Knowdi joined them and Josh then asked about the baby. She was about to answer, when the conversation continued, including talk about the latest developments and a possible promotion for her husband. Of course this was the first time she had heard about all of this, but would support John whatever was decided.

However she was grateful when Josh suggested that they leave this particular conversation until after dinner, which she was more than happy with. Although lost her appetite, slightly with the way Jack looked and spoke to her. She had expected such malice and hatred towards her and if she had her way, she would make her stepson, realise just what an ass he was. But for now, listened as her husband warned him, appreciating the gesture but could defend herself.

" To answer your earlier question Josh, she's definitely getting cramped in there and likes to let me know, especially when I'm trying to sleep" she replied then looked towards Jack.

" You may think I'm the worst person alive Jack, although I assure you, that I'm not some wicked witch and if you could bothered to not only respect me, but get to know me, you'll realise just wrong you are and I won't have you spoil this, just because you have an attitude and think that everyone else's opinion is wrong".
